First-Annual Novice Camp Write Up
The First-Annual Novice Water Polo Camp in Olds, Alberta was a great success! There were quite a few kids who were introduced to water polo for the first time and they showed amazing improvements over the 4 practices. Even the players with a bit more experience in water polo advanced their knowledge and skills in the sport. Everyone was kept very busy over the 2 days: eating! playing games, in the classroom, watching movies, getting cool free stuff and of course in the water. Although I think the most tiring part of the weekend came when the kids had the chase Biff and Buff across the football field. My three helper coaches; Sami Banks, Biff (Connor Christmas) and Buff (Devon Thumwood) were amazing with the kids and a huge help in the water. The Olds University facility was great (if a little cold at night) but everything was so conveniently located in one place that I couldn’t have asked for more. I can’t speak for everyone but I had a great time coaching this camp and loved introducing the great sport of water polo to new players. I hope to see it continue running every summer!
