Northern Cup Invitational

Event Overview

Alberta Water Polo is excited to announce that we will be hosting the Northern Cup Invitational November 22 - 24, 2024. This is the first year for a number of years that we have run the Northern Cup and we are excited to grow this tournament and create more early season game play opportunities for teams in Canada and beyond. For 2024, the tournament will be limited to the 16U Age Category for both male and female teams.

Cost

• $900 per team

Eligibility

• All teams and players must be a ‘member in good standing’ with their Provincial or National organization.

• All athletes must be registered in the National (Perform in Water polo) category in order to be listed on a roster.

Refund Policy

• No refunds will be issued if a team withdraws. If the facility cancels pool time or government regulations limit competition, a refund will be issued minus an administration fee.

Schedule:

A detailed Tournament Schedule will be released once registrations close but the first game will take place Friday morning with medal games on Sunday. 

Tournament Format:

16U

• Where the schedule allows, teams will receive 10 minutes of warm up time with a minimum of 5 minutes.

• 4 x 8 minute quarters, 2 time-outs per game.

Rules & Regulations:

The tournament will be following all World Aquatics Competition Regulations. Any rule modifications will be identified in the Technical Package as well as the Technical Call on November 18th.

Rosters must have at least 7 players to be eligible to play. Should a team fail to have 7 players at the start of a game, the game will be forfeited and that team will be ineligible  

To submit a protest, a $100.00 cash fee is required along side your submission. The deposit will be reimbursed if the decision is in favor of your protest. All protests must be made in writing using the form below and submitted  within 30 minutes from the time of the end of the game. A protest must be signed by the head coach. The protest committee shall be composed of 3 senior representatives, a referee, the tournament pool coordinator and another selection.

Hospitality Room:

The on deck meeting room will be available for all Coaches, Volunteers and Officials running from Friday afternoon until Sunday.
